Ok i belive that the actions of the Arab states, especially the 1948 war and later conflicts, played a big role in shaping the ongoing crisis.

7:18 to 7:51 sums up the whole thing entirely, including what the problem is, and the nuisance with most people who are also looking at this from the outside.

@bill22062000 May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

Let's hope that there can be a peaceful resolution for both sides

Palestine does not exist.

@louistoledo7760 May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

Although this video glosses over a lot, it is still the best brief explanation I have seen on YT. Doesn't lean one way or another in the name of any ideology. And doesn't paint either side as an innocent victim. And it points to nationalism as the main reason for the conflict. To finally see that being pointed out is great.

@severinveganigang8036 May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

No mention of how many times Israel offered a state but the Palestinians refused?

@SopanKotbagi May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

Why do you have so much movement when showing maps on screen? Pace down. Your video is difficult to follow and defeats the purpose of "a brief, simple history".

@richardnorris9662 May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸

@ethanwilliamson4329 May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

You claim that the conflict only goes back 1 century, but then failed to elaborate. Why is the conflict being ancient a myth?

@sphumelelesijadu May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

Settler colonialism at work. People in the comments complaining about Britain not realising that Israel is its modern form. They LITERALLY took over from them.

@hallazgo.macabro May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

"If two fish hate each other, a Britisher has passed by". The British, played a significant role in laying the groundwork for the tensions that continue today. So in a metaphorical sense, that Indian saying about the British “causing even fish to hate each other” can be extended to this conflict, too.

@RosieFellig May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

its unfortunate that the initial partition plans were rejected by palestinians

@peepsdtw May 23, 2025 - 12:41 pm

So 51 seconds in, a religion declares they are a state. Therefore need land ok.. go on..

The Philistines: An Ancient People in the Near East

The Philistines were an ancient people who lived in the Near East in the 12th century BC. They settled in the coastal region of Palestine, which today belongs to Israel and Gaza.

Origin and Culture

The Philistines probably originated from the Aegean or Asia Minor and migrated to Palestine. They developed their own culture, which was influenced by their Aegean heritage. The Philistines were known for their advanced technology, particularly their ironworking, and their complex social structure.

Conflicts with the Israelites

The Philistines are best known for their conflicts with the Israelites, which are described in the Bible. The Philistines were an important adversary of the Israelites and played a significant role in the history of the Old Testament. Some of the most famous stories about the Philistines are those of Samson and David and Goliath.

Archaeological Finds

Archaeological finds have shown that the Philistines had a complex society with their own culture and architecture. They built cities like Gaza, Ashdod, and Ashkelon and developed their own pottery and art tradition.

Legacy

The Philistines have left an important legacy in the history of the Near East. Their culture and history are still of interest to historians and archaeologists today. The Philistines are also an important part of biblical history and have shaped the history of the Old Testament.
