Too many drivers are texting while driving which doesn’t help

For all the experts speaking about congestion tolls, – its funny how none of them ever said municipalities could push "working from home" as that SAVES commuting in the first place. Too bad we have no idea of what that looks like huh? Or gee – there is no easy to reference long term data of how GREAT that works and what that could look like either. LOL. Cities, governments and companies learned ZERO in the past 5 years.

it's hilarious to me to see a 3rd world "professor" talking about historical context in canada. i cant even get over the fact when/where he grew up he prob didn't see "traffic" cuz that guy obviously grew up overseas but now trying to solve "modern" traffic problem in toronto lmao

Just one more lane will fix it bro

@jaimieseejaimiedo November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Pay to have to drive on roads we already pay for? Are we not charged enough as it is here?

I grew up in Langley, BC in the Vancouver area and I'm constantly glad that I didn't start driving my own vehicle for my commute until quite a few years into life in Newfoundland. This past summer all of us in the Conception Bay area were pretty bitter about construction on the TCH/Hwy 2 interchange ("The Cloverleaf" / The Galway Interchange) and sometimes it was responsible for tripling my morning commute …to 40ish minutes.

Pickering to Milton on free flow is 50 min? Yeah.. and I’m Tony stark

@Will-qb5pt November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Too bad Park Lawn GO Station might not be built.

@michaelm3345 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

401 between Dixon and Allen during rush hour is obscene, and I’m convinced it causes mental health issues. Too many people using infrastructure not equipped for such a high population.

I do have a great solution.

From Courtice to Leslie St & York Mills during rush hours for 9 years was sometimes 2+ hours.

@MiltonHip November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Pickering to Milton is insane

@AK-pz7om November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

16:11 lol this government continues to make policy that is rooted in emotion and not evidence. Shameful

@johnspooner1403 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Velomobiles! And better transit.

@hugochan2821 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Really uncomfortable pacing. The worst reporting style ever. Slow, boring, just bad reporting.

Even old people start sleeping when the show goes on and on.

Victoria is a tiny city, so its not worthy of a complaint. Everyone bikes, its the Helps Law that was introduced years ago as part of the War on the Car.

@smartbrew8606 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Why is the answer to everything is charging money! CBC are you kidding? what happened to unbiased journalism? We are paying the highest insurance rates, insane gasoline prices in a gas producing country, and terrible roads. The easiest answer is to allow people to work from home. But these highly educated old dinosaurs would never think of the easiest solutions. Work from home, fix transit and fix transit routes, it should not take hours and 2 to 4 transfers to get anywhere. Shame on this tabloid style journalism.

@davids9035 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

such a soft interview with transport minister, 0 pressure

@chocobo842 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Work from home, more roads, and increasing speed limits are the solutions. These engineers always think people are able to afford a home that close to public transit.

@antrolly November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

smh… The #1 worst commute is partially attributed to Gardiner being under construction? So once the construction is completed, #2 worst commute becomes #1 (aka the winner, complete w/crowns for commuters?)

@sammyt3514 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

The reasons given for not having congestion charging don't make sense. Why assume that drivers would NOT want to be charged to drive into the city if that means less congested traffic? The least they could do is get feedback from the drivers through a survey or something and decide on the issue accordingly, but to summarily dismiss it with no valid reasons is not right.

@TheLitman72 November 16, 2025 - 9:45 am

Congestion pricing… Hell no! I rather slow drive then pay for this.
